Family Planning

Expanding access to Family Planning and Reproductive Health (FP/RH) services is one of the best investments a country can make. FP/RH services can improve women and children’s overall health, reduce maternal and child morbidity, mortality and help prevent HIV.

CHEDI conducted a community mobilization for young women in Tarka Lafia a community in AMAC, Garaku, Akwanga and Karu LGA of Nasarawa State. The topic focused on Family Planning education and HIV/AIDS prevention messages, targeting Young Married Women. The topic discussed among others includes Facts and myths of HIV/AIDS, couples communication, HIV Prevalence rate focusing on women as the most vulnerable group. A total of 80 women were reached with FP/RH information and HIV preventive messages.

CHEWs and Traditional Birth Attendants were trained to conduct 3 visits per week to couples in their homes and discussed child spacing, HIV/AIDS prevention and control, spousal communication and information on post-abortal care & service providers. They were also trained to conduct group talks during ceremonies and one-on-one talks and counseling.
